The Mighty World Of Marvel Part II

The second part in the UK Marvels. This will be it for a few days as we're off to Melbourne for the Camberwell fair. If you're around the place on Sunday then pop in and say hello. We'll have a table there with our usual assortment of Silver & Bronze Age stuff (a decent run of Daredevil, Avengers and FF) plus we'll have a nice collection of Newtons on sale - first issues of Avengers, FF, Hulk, Silver Surfer and Spider-Man will be there. Even if you don't want to buy pop down for a chat. When we come back there'll be an announcement regarding a new home for the UK comics and the Australian comics (Newtons and others) so watch this space. In the meantime though...

The Mighty World Of Marvel. Working backwards (it'll all make sense eventually, I promise, we find the following. Spot those artists!

Cover date: March 10, 1973.

Oddly enough the Hulk story in this issue is coloured green. Not just the Hulk, but clothing, the ground, the sky...

Another green Hulk story by Mighty Mickey Demeo! In fact almost the entire issue is black, white and shades of green.

The back cover pin-up. I can't remember the issue number off the top of my head, but this is the cover art to an issue of the USA Fantastic Four.

Danny,

More cover ID possibilities:

MWOM 23-25 -Starlin pencils. I think Esposito inked #'s 23 and 25, but I don't know who inked 24; Duffy Vohland, perhaps? Also, the DD figure looks like Starlin's work, I'm not certain about that sloppy Owl figure.

MWOM 28-30: It appears that Darlin' Dick Ayers pencilled these covers, likely inked by Esposito. I'll try to check with Dick to confirm. It's quite a surprise to me, as i've never seen these covers!

MWOM 41 0n: the added art on FF appears to be by Mike Esposito.

I'd add that I believe this is certainly a Wood DD, with Kirby adding the buildings in the background, probably at the request of Stan. Wood likely had an empty background and Lee wanted to add a sense of height and danger.
